TRIBUNNEWS.COM - Taylor Swift memenangkan nominasi best director atau sutradara terbaik di MTV Video Music Awards 2020 Minggu (31/8/2020) kemarin.
Kemenangan itu sekaligus membuatnya menjadi wanita pertama yang meraih penghargaan tersebut.
Taylor Swift memenangkan penghargaan sutradara terbaik atas karyanya, video klip The Man yang premiere Februari lalu.
Karya itu merupakan karya pertama artis 30 tahun ini sebagai sutradara.
Dalam video The Man, Taylor berperan menjadi laki-laki yang buruk atau menjengkelkan, yang selalu dipuji meski tidak melakukan pekerjaan dengan maksimal.

"The Man" juga dinominasikan untuk kategori "video for good" karena menyoroti standar ganda seksisme.
"Ini luar biasa," kata Swift dalam pidato penerimaannya, yang direkam dari jarak jauh.
"Ini adalah video pertama yang pernah saya sutradarai sendiri. Saya sangat bersyukur untuk ini. Saya ingin mengucapkan terima kasih kepada tim yang percaya pada saya sebagai sutradara pertama kali dan membuat video ini dengan saya."
"Saya ingin mengucapkan terima kasih kepada semua orang di industri yang memilih video ini," lanjutnya.
"Tapi saya juga sangat ingin berterima kasih kepada para penggemar karena Anda adalah satu-satunya alasan mengapa industri ini peduli dengan apa pun yang saya lakukan."
"Semua yang telah kalian lakukan dengan 'Folklore' musim panas ini, saya sangat terpesona dan terkejut dengan kemurahan hati kalian kepada saya. Jadi, terima kasih untuk semuanya. Kuharap kita bisa bertemu segera."
