TRIBUNNEWS.COM - Ajang penghargaan serial TV dan film Screen Actors Guild Awards atau SAG Awards digelar Minggu, 4 April 2021.
SAG Awards tahun ini berlangsung hanya satu jam, lebih cepat dari biasanya yaitu dua jam, indiewire.com mengabarkan.
Tahun lalu, semua nominasi SAG Ensemble memenangkan Academy Awards, termasuk pemenang besar SAG “Parasite,” yang membawa pulang Film Terbaik, Sutradara, Skenario Asli, dan Fitur Internasional untuk Bong Joon Ho di Oscar.
Semua pemenang akting SAG juga mengulang kesuksesan di Academy Awards - Renée Zellweger ("Judy"), Joaquin Phoenix ("Joker"), Brad Pitt ("Once Upon a Time in Hollywood"), dan Laura Dern ("Marriage Story").
SAG tidak selalu menjadi "patokan" di Academy Awards.
Di antara nominasi SAG baru-baru ini, ada yang tidak pernah berhasil mencapai Oscar, yaitu Emily Blunt (“A Quiet Place”), yang membawa pulang SAG Award, Lupita Nyong'o (“US”), Taron Egerton (“Rocketman”), dan Jennifer Lopez ("Hustlers").
Film Trial of the Chicago 7 memenangkan kategori utama Cast in a Motion Picture, sedangkan mendiang Chadwick Boseman menjadi aktor pemeran utama terbaik di film Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.
