- In the early morning of 10 November 1945, British troops began to advance into Surabaya with cover from both naval and air bombardment.

- Although the Indonesians defended the city heroically, the city was conquered within 3 days and the whole battle lasted for 3 weeks.

- In total, between 6,000 to 16,000 Indonesians died while casualties on the British side were about 600 to 2,000.

Even though the Battle of Surabaya caused Indonesia to lose thousands of lives, however this war had opened the eyes of the international community that every country deserved and had the rights to be independent and free from all forms of colonialism from other nations.

8. This battle had a very great influence because it encouraged the spirit to become a free and independent nation.

9. The defiant Bung Tomo was the well-known revolutionary leader who played a very important role in this battle.

He bravely spoke on the RRI radio at that time inflaming the spirit of the freedom fighters not to be afraid to fight against the British army.

10. Because on that date there was a very fierce bloody battle to defend the independence of Indonesia.
