Narrative Text berbeda dengan Recount Text.

Narrative text, menceritakan sebuah cerita dongeng atau legenda, juga terdapat konflik di dalamnya.

Sementara recount text menceritakan sebuah peristiwa yang terjadi di masa lalu, yang terjadi secara mendetail.

Biasanya tidak terdapat konflik di dalam teks tersebut.

Struktur Narrative Text

1. Orientation: Pengenalan tokoh serta waktu dan tempat kejadiannya

2. Complication: Munculnya krisis atau masalah

3. Resolution: Cara tokoh dari cerita tersebut memecahkan masalah yang ada

Berikut adalah contoh narrative text:

Once, a wolf was very hungry. It looked for food here and there. But it couldn't get any. At last it found a loaf of bread and piece of meat in the hole of a tree. (Paragraf 1: Orientation)

The hungry wolf squeezed into the hole. It ate all the food. It was a woodcutter's lunch. He was on his way back to the tree to have lunch. But he saw there was no food in the hole, instead, a wolf. On seeing the woodcutter, the wolf tried to get out of the hole. But it couldn't. Its tummy was swollen. (Paragraf 2: Complication)

The woodcutter caught the wolf and taught it a lesson. (Paragraf 3: Resolution)
